Barrel Wrap
I have never actually seen the barrel wrap. I have just heard about it, so I do not have a lot of detailed hints on how to run it.
The gist of the idea is to take a heavy wooden barrel and nail a thirty foot piece of rope to onto it. Then a rider lines his bike up perpendicular to the out stretched rope at the end of the rope. The rider then takes off with the rope in one hand. The must ride in tighter and tighter cirles around the barrel until they touch the barrel with their out stretched hand or they commit a fowl.
The rider is fowled out by putting a foot down after taking off, dropping the rope, or by making too small of a circle and allowing the wrap to touch the ground. Upon disqualification the judges measure the number of wraps and record it. I guess that it is very rare for a rider to make enough complete wraps to finish without making a fowl. If no riders wrap the entire rope around the barrel the winner is the one who succesfully completed the most wraps before committing a foul.
After hearing about this game I thought about it a bit. Seems like it might also make a good rider passenger game with the passenger holding the rope. |
