The ring joust is a fun game.  It plays well on a twenty by twenty yard track with about a 5 to 8  yard area on one end to turn.  Along each side of the track are placed two frames of some kind to delicately suspend a small metal ring.  Something about 2 inches in diameter works well.  It is also a good idea to vary them a little bit or include one that is slightly bent.

The idea is that the passenger picks up each ring with a stick by passing the stick through the ring and lifting it off of its supports.  Then switches the stick to the other hand as the rider turns to get the rings on the other side.  The final team with the most rings wins.

Any rings that are dropped at any point are not counted.  The rider may not put his foot down.  The passenger must not touch the rings except where they slide against the hand gripping the stick and must never hold the rings.

The frame you see here, (if you have pictures on) is a simple wood frame set in a cheap plastic bucket filled with concrete.  The ring is supported by strings with a soft metal hook that will give before you break your frame or hang up your contestants.  A piece of soldering wire or even small guage soft copper wire will work fine.  Of course you can make your support frame out of any hand materials.  It should be setup to support your rings between three and four feet off the ground

The stick should be something like a broom handle.  6 feet or more long with a with a band taped or painted around the stick about two feet from one end.  The passenger must hold the stick or lance behind the band with the larger portion held out in front of them.
