My christmas cactus is blooming. I am very proud of my christmas cactus. I raised the little dear from when she was only three small splindly stalks, and no blooms ever. My mom has this huge christmas cactus with plenty of blooms on it, but it had blooms on it when she got it. So that is cheating. She said she likes the colour of my blooms better anyway. Yes, I am very proud of my cactus. Although, she is a little confused at when to bloom. You see, she is called a christmas cactus for a reason. Christmas cacti are supposed to bloom every year at Christmas. But mine, hmm, she needs a name, I will call her Kate. "Kate, that's a very attractive name, I like it. They call you Kate that do speak of you, bonnie Kate the prettiest Kate in all of Christendom. But what light, it is the east and Kate is the sun... that doesn't work so well." Ok, so Kate is confused at when Christmas is. She blooms at Valentine's at Easter, but never once at Christmas. Oh you should see her though, she has never ever had so many blooms. They are pinkish red and it just makes me giggle with delight every time I walk past there, because seriously, when I got this thing I though she would never ever bloom! A but the wonderful cactus has survived. Actually there was originally a jade plant with Kate, who didn't last long and another cactus, one of the really prickly kinds that you find in the Arizona desert. The other cactus lived for a long time, it started out as just three little balls of spines and grew like crazy, all twisting around into long spine-covered snakes winding through the stalks of Kate. Just very recently did it pass away. My mom and I figure Kate just got too big and choked him out. He should have grown more chubby and thick instead of so spread out and thin. It kind of makes me sad that he died, since he really did start out as three little balls and if you would have seen him, man I did not know a cactus could grow that much. But Kate's blooms make up for the death of Other Cactus. Yeah. My christmas cactus is blooming. I am very proud of my christmas cactus. |
