| I guess I could mention the interesting design of the club, replete with classic motorcycles looming over us. Or I could mention the rather butch diamond back encased stage. Perhaps I could ruminate on the big ass woofers underneath the stage. But I won't do any such thing. Instead, I'll thank the folks who braved the weather to check us and the Speedles out - even the ones that didn't pay to get in (and there were plenty.) There was no visible indication of any promotion for this show whatsoever (posters, print ads, etc) so anyone there found out about it by word of mouth. It seemed to be mostly friends and family of both bands. The locals showed up later, got in for free, and pretty much just shot pool. We got a warm reception, but we faced an older and tamer crowd than we've grown accustomed to (ie: no Mohawks, underdressed hotties, or PBR casualties.) It was almost like doing dinner theater. I think I even told the crowd to try the veal. It's amazing Hoagie made it to and from the show in one piece, as his headlights failed as soon as we hit the road. Of course, they came back on about a block from his house on the way home. Coincidence? |
