| Two shows in one day? Whose bright idea was this? We didnt actually plan it this way. The Maddogs gig was already booked when the U District Fair came a courtin. Canceling shows sucks, as does turning down a festival gig. So we decided to just go for it, and let the limbs fall where they may. After the fest, we scattered like roaches to reenergize for the evening show. Marci and I enjoyed an early dinner at Charlies (a fine Capitol Hill eatery) then repaired to my apartment for a power nap. A few hours later its Wakey wakey! Hands off your snakey! and its off to Deadwood I mean Stanwood. Its easy to confuse the two. Maddogs looks like some place Wild Bill Hickock may have popped a cap in someones ass. Every time we play there, I keep waiting for Al Swearengen to come out on the front balcony and call me a cocksucker. All thats missing are the whores and the gambling. Ill have to talk to them about that Los Peligrosos did their set of X covers, again reminding me to dial up some X the next time I grab my Ipod. After our short, but blistering set at the fair, we wondered how our appendages (and my voice) would hold out for the late show. Our worries were unfounded. We played quite possibly the best set weve ever done and certainly the longest. We pasted the crowd with a 25 song set that clocked in well under an hour. During the first break between songs, I told the crowd about how I couldnt cuss during the earlier show. Sooooo.on the count of three I wanna hear everyone say fuck..ya ready? Onetwothree and the whole bar screams FUCK! Boy did that feel good. I love having a microphone We were called back for an encore, in which we played the other 2 songs we still do (I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend has been retired to the scrap heap.) Still, we left them wanting more. Our bodies and repertoire decimated, it was finally time to de wig and enjoy some cold ones. Though we were clearly a bit knackered from the events of the day, we felt great that we were able to pull off two shows in one day. We may have seen significantly less than a million faces, but we did rock them all. And if you ever catch me paraphrasing Bon Jovi again, gnaw my face off. |
