Use caution
you learn of the piece that you bear
It requires much attention
In need of special care
For you see it has
Been broken before
Not just once
But many times more
And with each careless
One it acquaints
Though often misused
Has few complaints
For each new owner
Promises better care
Each knows this treasure
Has much love to share
But after a time
The newness wears away
And again it is put up
On a shelf for display
When I am ready
Says the holder of this gift
It will still be around
Shall it never set adrift
But one day the holder comes
And the place once held is empty
No longer does he possess the piece
That held love a plenty
For loneliness and neglect
Has caused it to fade away
And it appears to another
Hoping this time love will stay
