When I was lost and confused
Not knowing what to do
I’d search for a place of comfort
Seeking some refuge

An unidentifiable strength
Came over me
Moved me, soothed me
Until my worries flew free

Efforts to seek happiness
Found me in many arms
Reaching and grabbing aimlessly
Settling for small charms

But when the mood passed
And my mind became bored
The void within my soul

Like a shade tree in the sun
Cooled my heated atmosphere
And put peace where there was none

What is the source of this calming feeling
That can only be described as love
How does it reach so deep inside
With the gentleness of a dove

Then I opened my eyes and there you were
Standing so tall and fine
At that moment I realized
It’s been you all the time
