Usenet
Usenet has been on the Internet for a long time, it contains many discussion newsgroups, some moderated, some not.
If you are unfamiliar with Usenet, an easy way to read and post to it is through Google groups. Many of these groups
are unmoderated, so there is a high signal-to-noise ratio on some of them.

Google's Groups are a good way to access these Usenet groups for the novice, although
there are other methods of accessing these newsgroups.
