WHEREAS, The Concordia University System is a synodwide corporate entity (3.401 a.); and
WHEREAS, Each college, university�shall be governed�by a Board of Regents (6.01); and
WHEREAS, In exercising its relationship to the Synod and to the Board for Higher Education as set forth elsewhere in the Bylaws (3.401), the Board of Regents of each institution shall consider as one of its primary duties the defining and fulfilling of the mission of the institution within the broad assignment of the Synod (6.03), and shall
WHEREAS, The budget got really tight and all the fat had been cut away in the years of transition to a University with a five-color logo and NCAA Division III athletic teams with suitably marketable new graphic identities, a recognizable new mascot, and modest but comely uniforms; and
WHEREAS, Reduction of the size of staff was deemed necessary to maintain fiscal viability in compliance with policies concerning fiscal viability (6.44); and
WHEREAS, Discontinuance and/or reassignment of the ministry and programs of the Director of Student Union and Activities and Director of Orientation Programs was deemed to be of strategic advantage, though termination or restructuring of such responsibilities did not reflect on the competency or faithfulness of the minister whose commission was terminated (in January of 1998); and
WHEREAS, Said person is no longer serving on the faculty or professional staff of a synodical educational institution (2.15 g.); and
WHEREAS, Said person is not otherwise regularly performing the duties of an �active member� of the Synod, nor inclined to make application to be categorized as an �emeritus�, �candidate�, or �non-candidate� inactive member (2.17); and
WHEREAS, Said person is also no longer a communicant member of a congregation which is a member of the Synod (2.15) and is no longer particularly keen on upholding Articles II, VI, and XIII of the Constitution of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod; therefore be it
Resolved That we give thanks that God, by His grace, equipped and upheld this Minister of Religion-Commissioned, through many years of preparation and more than eight years of faithful and dedicated service to Concordia College/University, Saint Paul, as well as to the church at large at various youth gatherings and other functions; and be it further
Resolved, That we give thanks that God, by His grace, will continue to equip and uphold His child through many more years of preparation, service, growth, and change even while he pursues his vocation apart from the Synod; and be it further
Resolved, That the name of the aforementioned person, Daniel Mark Asmus, be removed from current rosters, annual reports, mailing lists, donor contacts, databases of membership or prospective participation, and other such like records maintained by the Synod, the Minnesota South District, Concordia University, and/or their agents or assigns, (though not from historically accurate documentation); and be it finally
Resolved, That in a spirit of playful jocularity, all be encouraged to gather �round and sing a rousing chorus of �He�s a Lumberjack and He�s Okay� as a fitting tribute to Dan.
