Jeff Moore is ready to catch the incoming shot (if indeed he needs to, it might be going out of bounds) and has told Aaron Rossow to "go". Aaron's throw should be a high, slow floater, and then Jeff can throw the second disc, or "burn" shot to try and stick the other team with two discs at the same time (thus scoring two points). If that disc Jeff is running toward does head out of bounds, Jeff can let it go, and he and Aaron score a point (for the opponent's "bad throw"). If Jeff were to drop the incoming throw here (unlikely), the opponents would score one point.

see Conrad Damon's page (absolutely the best DDC page on the web) for more about DDC: --game description, rules, and excellent pictures, even video

Bill Sather (far court left) runs to catch Aaron Rossow's (near court left) overhead forehand serve, while Jeff Moore (near court right) gets position to catch Gary Vice's (you guessed it, far court right) backhand "anhyzer" serve. No, that's not a mis-spelling, 'cuz I used to live in the St. Louis area, and I *know* how to spell Anheuser (as well as Busch). It's not a beer term, it's a disc term.

Bill Sather (near court right) has either just had a violent bout with reverse peristalsic action, or (more likely) is calling this serve from Aaron Rossow "short". If it wasn't short, and Aaron landed that disc in the front few inches of Bill & Gary's court, Gary (near right), who just made a decent serve, should scold his partner for not being up on the front line. Bill, Bill, Bill, how many times do you have to be told to get on that line?
Nah, it looks short from here.

Sorry guys--we have to demonstrate what you DON'T want to happen. This time, either Jeff didn't say "go" soon enough, or Aaron thought about it too long before throwing, 'cuz you can clearly see that they are both touching discs. On the field, you'd probably hear the other team yelling, "DOUBLE", and then see Aaron and Jeff shaking their heads, and mumbling "yeah, yeah, okay..."
