THE 1999 OAKLAND MILLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM GIRLS Danielle Stoddart, Senior - Captain Danielle returns this year with hopes of repeating as regional champion. She has the potential to place high in the County Championships as well. She is a very talented young lady who has a cross country PR of 20:06 earning a 6th place finish at the County championships last year. She also runs indoor and outdoor track at OM and was named to the cross country, indoor and outdoor All-County teams last year. Lauren Wilson, Senior - Captain Lauren is plagued with an injury and we hope to have her healthy by the County Championships. Her leadership role is vital on this team and she will hopefully be ready to assist the team in qualifying for the State championships. She is a 3rd year runner and her PR is 27:15. Kierney Hiteshew, Junior Kierney is a first year runner who gives a lot of enthusiasm to the team. She is a very hard worker and will continue to improve on her PR of 25:26. She is also a competitive gymnast. Tracie Blummer, Junior Tracie is a first year runner who is getting into better shape every day. She will enjoy watching her PR of 26:58 get better. Sachelle Edwards, Sophomore Sachelle brings in her running experience from track to become an intergral part of this girls team. She has improved every day and has run 29:00. Amy Lutz, Junior Amy is a 2nd year runner who has had a string of bad luck with injuries. She has not had the opportunity to race this year but has started back running a little. We hope to have her in shape and ready to go by the County Championships. She ran 28:41 last year before being plagued by an injury. Jessica Castonguay, Junior Jessica came out her freshman year only to be hampered by a knee injury and not able to run. She came back out this year ready to test the waters again. She is in physical therapy at the present time and we hope to have her knee feeling good very soon. She has a lot of desire and is working hard to get back out there competing. Johanna Roncagliolo, Freshman Johanna was a late addition to the team and has not had the opportunity to compete. She will hopefully be out there at the Autumn Classic. BOYS Carldrickiss Haymon, Junior Carl is a first year Cross Country runner and has started off his season with a bang. His current Cross Country personal best is 17:22, which earned him a medal at the Fort Frederick Inv. Look for Carl to place will at the County, Region and State Championships. Alex Bailey, Senior - Captain Alex loves to run and has been doing so ever since he can remember. He loves to compete. He made varsity as a freshman and medaled at states his sophomore year. He was on the All-County team last year. His best time on the OM home course is 17:59. Alex has a gold medal for his participation on the 4x800m relay team at the State Championships in outdoor track. Brian Fleming, Senior - Captain Brian came out as a freshman and ran 26:13 at time trials. He has improved that to 19:02 and is currently our #3 runner. Brian works very hard and is a great example for the rest of the team to follow. He never asks questions when given a workout and gives 100% every day out there. His cross country personal best is 18:14. Brian runs indoor and outdoor track and received a gold medal on the 4x800m relay team at the State Meet in Outdoor Track. Sean McGehee, Junior As a first year Cross Country runner, Sean has excelled earning a varsity scoring position. His personal best is 18:32 and with his hard work, he is only getting faster. Sean has also run track and played soccer at Oakland Mills. Riley Jennifer, Junior Third year runner on the Oakland Mills Cross Country team. In his freshman year he was usually the last scoring runner on J.V. As a sophomore, he moved up a little and was really fighting for a Varsity spot. He made a pretty good showing at time trials and came in 6th. He also broke 20 minutes which was a real milestone. He was plagued with a nagging shin injury and sat out for a large portion of the season but worked hard and earned back that varsity spot to run at states and finish 6th for the team. He also earned his first Varsity letter. This year it seems as if he is feeling his best. He finished 3rd at time trials and it appears as though he will be fighting for the number 4 spot overall. His fastest time so far has been 19:00. In addition to Cross Country, he also runs Outdoor Track. He specializes in the 800 and his fastest time from last year was 2:12. Mark Grgurich, Freshman Earning a varsity spot as a freshman is quite an accomplishment. He is the first freshman on varsity since Alex Bailey did it 3 years ago. Mark shows great potential and will continue to better his times as the year goes on. His best cross country time so far is 19:32. Pat Combs, Senior - Captain Pat is a 3rd year runner and is a very vital part of the boys team. His leadership contribution, as well as his running talent, will assist the boys in their attempt to win a State Title. Pat's cross country PR is 18:47. Pat competes on the OM track team concentrating on the Pole Vault. Joel Selby, Sophomore As a first year runner, Joel is in the mix for a varsity spot. He has run 19:31 already this year and will continue to improve upon that. Joel plays hockey as well. Alajondro Roncagliolo, Junior Alajondro has shown tremendous improvement over the course of the season. He works hard, never questioning anything you ask him to do. He has a lot of talent in this sport and the best is yet to come. His best time is 20:15. He is fighting for a varsity spot. Dan Birzak, Sophomore Dan has come out this year ready to run. He has shown great improvement over last year and is trying to earn himself a varsity spot. His best time last year was 23:00 (with a nagging injury that kept him out most of the season). He has already run 20:41 this year. Dan also participates in Hockey. Brian Clavelle, Junior Brian is a second year runner who has the potential to fight for a varsity spot also. He looked real good last year but was plagued by an injury. His best time this year is 20:50. Brian is also a wrestler for Oakland Mills. Jack Lange, Senior - Captain This is Jack's senior year and he is a four year runner for the OM squad. Last year he was plagued with a foot injury and unfortunately it has come back to haunt him this year. He is still working out hard with cross training and we hope to have him back out racing before too long. His leadership and motivating influence on the team (even though he is unable to compete) is still very critical to winning a State Championship. Nick Fico, Junior Nick earned a varsity letter last year as a sophomore and is running with a nagging knee pain currently. He is feeling better and we hope to have him out there racing in races versus jogging through them before too long. His PR in cross country is 21:19 and ran consistently in the 21 minutes last year. Nick wrestles for the Oakland Mills team. Adam Rollins, Junior Adam is a 3rd year runner and is very dedicated to this sport. He has improved tremendously over the years and has run a 23:19 already this year. His time on the OM course improved from 33:04 at time trials his freshman year to 26:32 at the Home meet last year. Andrew Buck, Junior Andrew is a 2nd year runner who works very hard which helped him improve his '98 Hereford time of 25:13 to 23:37 this year. His personal best is 22:00 and he will certainly better that this year. Andrew is a tennis player for Oakland Mills. Dustin Allen, Sophomore Dustin joined the team as a freshman last year and ran a personal best of 21:13. He has a lot of potential and will improve upon that time this year. His PR on the home course is 23:37. Brian Daughtry, Sophomore Brian is a 2nd year runner and has shown tremendous improvement over last year. He ran 6 minutes faster at time trials this year versus last year. His PR in cross country is 24:52. Kyle McGehee, Freshman As a freshman, Kyle is showing some potential at this sport. He has run 21:36 already this year and will continue to improve upon that. Jon Dinoto, Freshman Jon, after fighting off an ankle injury is getting in shape and improving every day. He has run 22:57 this year. Robert Shipman, Junior Robert is a first year runner and has run 25:55 this year. He was plagued with an injury and missed a couple of meets but is healthy now. Amir Miles-Humes, Freshman Amir has been a fun addition to the team. He has a great personality and is improving every day. He has run a PR of 26:53 this year. Matt Warner, Junior Matt was a late addition to the team and has not had a chance to race. He will hopefully test the waters at the Autumn Classic.
