Dear Brian,

The Kampala district competition ended on 17 June 2001 at YMCA Wandegeya, Kampala

The following were the winning clubs.

a) Nakulabye united emerged the overall winner after defeating Najjanankumbi in the final round. I.E., Nakulabye united 8 points and 19 goals, while Najjanankumbi got 4 points and 9 goals (ed: please see notes at bottom of this page)

b) Munno Club was 3rd with 8 points and 18 goals after defeating Bwayise Simba which got 4 points and 10 goals becoming the 4th.

The Tournament attracted 9clubs and the players were very competitive. The winners were given prizes on 24th June 2001 by the Lc5 youth councillor Mr.Serunjoji Emmanuel. Kampala city council gave us all the prizes and this time with a District Trophy, which will be competed for Annually.

Many thanks to Samuel Kyagulanyi (Chairman, Youth and Gender YMCA) for his efforts.

Omweso is now the talk every where in Uganda!

Notes: The scoring system used in the team knock-out competitions is based on competing players playing in teams of 6 against the opposing team. Players are paired off, and play 3 games. They score:

- 1 'goal' for a win, 2 'goals' for etimwe-ebiri (double-head win) and 6 'goals' for the very rare "Akawumbi" (Billion win: all 16 holes cleared and landing on one of the heads)

- The player in each pair with most 'goals' wins the "set", and scores 2 points. A draw is 1 point each.

The team with the most points wins the "match". A draw is decided on 'goals'
