Phil Jauch finds victory

Whacker Racing finds the points lead

The Jauch boys have found their winning ways once again as Phil and Dan Jauch both tied for the top spot this weekend in the in New England 300.  Both teams had only one pick on position, however Phil Jauch's Matt Kenseth pick in the 3rd finishing spot gave him 22 points, while Dan Jauch's 6th place pick of Dale Earnhardt Jr. only gave him 19 points.  Therefore, Phil Jauch gets the tie breaker, the win, and the most picks on position with that Matt Kenseth pick.

In the Winston Cup series, Matt Kenseth has one of the largest point leads in history on 2nd place Jeff Gordon.  So much so that Nascar.com writers are griping about the NASCAR points system for the second week in a row about a lack of parity.  I say, what parity?  If a driver is dominating, let him dominate in the points too, there should be no parity.  Was there a lot of complaining when the Miami Dolphins went undefeated that one year?  Look at what a memorable season that turned out to be.  Boy, I thought Dan Jauch was the only one I'd hear complaining about the NASCAR points system.

It's lonely at the top.

The scenario is quite different in the Pick-6 however (which uses the same points system), as a 3 way battle for the lead has heated up with Whacker Racing sitting at the top spot for the first time this year.  Only 26 points separate the top 3 teams in the Pick-6.

The Winston Cup teams head back to the Roval this weekend.  Qualifying for the Pennsylvania 500 from Pocono, PA will begin at 2:05 pm CDT on Friday, July 25.  It will be televised live on TNT.
