Uses The Brickyard to belt his way back into Dan Jauch's point lead.

Whacker Racing climbs back into 2nd place in the point standings this week right on the heels of Dan Jauch. Another low scoring week as only 39 event points were needed to win.
Well, Kenseth has now built up a big enough lead, and enough people have griped about it, that NASCAR is now considering changing the points system. They're looking at awarding more points for wins and some points for qualifying. The wins I can possibly see adding more points to, and a proposal I might vote for that reflects that at our 2004 meeting for the Pick-6. I don't see the point in adding points for qualifying since it's already a huge advantage starting in first place. Maybe if they invert the field they could add points for qualifying. The only reason I can see for this is trying to boost ratings for qualifying coverage. I certainly wouldn't vote for such a proposal here in the Pick-6 to add points for qualifying, since so much of qualifying mirrors how they practice (besides this week) and a very few of the Pick-6 teams have access to practice results before qualifying.

Anybody see that Packer game on Monday night? Sounds like something NASCAR would do. I guess you could say I'd be a little bit peeved if I spent about a week's pay for gas, food, lodging, and game tickets to see it called in the 3rd quarter with the Packers down 9-0. And then to see that it had quit raining by 10pm and they could've gotten the game in by the normal time a Monday Night Football game would be over with. I hope Mr. Tagliabue has well paid body guards.

The Winston Cup teams head to their final road course of the year. Also one of Matt Kenseth's final hurdles to his championship. He finished 33rd in this race last year. Qualifying for the Sirius at the Glen from Watkins Glen, NY will begin at 2:05 pm CDT on Friday, August 8. It will be televised live on Speed.
