February 8, 1999, Monday, sun, clouds and occasionally heavy rain, 6-18C

[20:42 @ the Alsisar Haveli hotel, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India]

Who says that Rajasthan is a dry state?  Almost as soon as we entered the state, it had begun intermittently raining.  Today, especially, there were several heavy downpours, at least one of them hit the Gigantic Tiger Cub at the Indian International School.

It was again an excellent presentation, this time even with a large screen video on which Champion was shown, followed by a short speech, then Q&A, to an auditorium full of about 300 secondary school students who sang the Tiger Song with enthusiasm, while the Tiger Cub, shaking its head in the wind, was admired by the other 1,000+ students.  Pradeep gave a short intro for me and was very complimentary of my work.  Also present were Pradeep’s mother, Angina and an officer of Project Tiger named Ziddi whom Pradeep considers an excellent organizer, whose organizational ability has been more than borne out, seeing the amount of activities crammed into two short days.

Tomorrow will be a very busy day, with two school presentations, one at 08:30 and the other at 11:30, plus a major media conference at the Press Club at 14:30.  After that, we’ll return to Delhi for more school presentations tomorrow.

 Good night, Raminothna.
