INNER LIGHT
February 14, 1977
Since
knowing Raminothna, I have kept a photo of the Earth taken from space pinned up
on the inside of my tent to remind me of her extraterrestrial perspective, and,
in reverse, to see what she sees. A
moment ago, in the lamp light, I just looked up, and saw our beautiful planet
shining brilliantly in the light of the Sun.
And then, Raminothna asked me to turn out the light. In the ensuing darkness, the painting of
course disappeared from view.
It
struck me then that the brilliance of the Sun, the glorious illumination of the
Earth, the glimmering stars, were all rendered dark in the absence of the
feeble lantern light.
In
the stillness Raminothna said, “Likewise, in the space of every mind are
stored numerous such shining pictures, poignant stories, magnificent epics,
masterpieces of culture, monuments of civilization, oceans of tears, hopes to
be realized, visions to be revealed, dreams to be fulfilled. But without us kindling and constantly
rekindled the flames of passion that burn within each and every one of us, we
would all be blind within our bodily abodes.
Let it burn brightly, on the other hand, and with 20/20 insight, we may
glimpse the masterplan of the Universe and read the mind of God.”
