Clashing Environment

Type of Lesson:

            Warm-Up

Age Group:

            9-12 grade

Time Period:

            15 minutes

Materials Needed:

            None

Objectives:

            The student will be able to create a scene, and they will be able to show interaction and social skills.

National Goals:

·        #2  -           The student will act by interacting in improvisation and assuming roles.

·        #3  -           The student will design and produce theatre by conceptualizing and realizing interpretations for informal and formal productions

Procedure:

            The student should set props, costumes, and furniture in a designated area as a stage setting.  They should then break into two groups of 5 or more (if there are more students, they can be audience members).  Each group will be given an environment (such as shoppers in a store, the army, dancers, etc.).  The students are then to start and improvisation not knowing the other group’s environments and the two environments should merge together.

Evaluation Method

            This is a warm-up to get the mind and body flowing.  It should only be part of the class participation.
