Analysis of characters

Age Group:

            9-12 grade

Time Period:

            1 hour

Materials Needed:

            A play or story to read aloud (set in the past)

Objectives:

            The students will be able to analyze a character from past to present.

National Goals:

• #5                    -            The student will research by finding information to support informal and formal productions
• #8                    -            The student will understand context by analyzing the role of theatre, film, television, and electronic media in the past and present

Procedure:

            Read a story aloud.  Have the students pick one character and have them compare the character from past to present.  Must be written out.  Have them tell all background information on the character if none is given, have them make it up.

Evaluation Method

            The paper should be graded on directions followed.  If all directions are followed, then grade accordinly.
