Acceptable Use Policy
Technology is a great asset to
education. There are basic risks that
come along with any technology.
Technology is made up of tools that make activities easier. A claw hammer and a mainframe computer are
both tools of technology. They both have
risks and uses.
Many forms of technology have very
apparent risks. Hand and Power tools
display these risks blatantly.
1.
Technology/tools will be used only for the advancement of
learning, the completion of assignments, and the design and production of a
theatrical production.
2.
No technology/tool will be used to cause another person or another
person’s property damage.
3.
No technology/tool will be used to access inappropriate
material. Accessing school records by
breaking and entering using a tool or viewing illegal pornography over the
Internet would be examples of inappropriate.
Misuse of technology will eventually result in the removal of such
technology from the classroom.
Immediate results include the restriction of use to assist in
assignments or lowering of class participation grade.
4.
All technology/tools use will be permission based. Teachers will give permission based upon a
students ability to use these tools.
5.
Technology/tools will be signed out and signed in
6. No technology will be used without adult supervision.
7.
The Internet, networks, and computer technology may not be
used for illegal activity; for profit purposes; non-school/non-community
related activities; lobbying; direct advertising; transmitting or receiving
offensive materials; hate mail; discriminating remarks; or to obtain or send obscene,
pornographic, sexist, racist, anarchistic, violent, or bomb making material. Use
of the network to transmit material likely to be offensive or objectionable to
recipients is prohibited.
8. Technology shall not be used to break any school rule/policy. I.e. Abusive language will not be tolerated. Users may not swear, use vulgarities, harass, or use any other inappropriate language.
9. Consequences:
a. Restriction of network access
b.
Loss or modification of a grade
c.
Removal from the class-generally with a withdraw-failure
(WF).
d.
Suspension in accordance with school discipline code.
e.
Criminal prosecution under appropriate state and federal
laws.
10.
No student will be permitted to use the Internet or the
school network without a signed copy of this agreement on file in the District.
