Goals:
1.
The student will design and produce theatre by conceptualizing and
realizing artistic interpretations for informal and formal productions.
Strand:
Comprehending, Applying,
Integrating,
Objectives:
The students will learn the types,
proper uses, and proper technique of cordless powerdrills.
The students will learn how to drive and remove
screws without stripping the threads or head.
Procedure:
Split
class into four groups. Set at four
tables. Present Makita and DeWalt
PowerDrills to class. Allow Students to
look over drills, keep one example of each for presentation. Go over parts on board and diagram both
models. Remind students that each part
is fair game for the test. Let the
students each attach and remove both types of batteries. Move groups from tables to station A. Station A has 4 preset wood blocks. There are 2-3 loose screws that each group
member is to drive and remove. Remind
students that Makita’s are difficult to work with. Changing of Makita battery pack may require screw driver. Remind students that there is no harassment
of new students. Switch Makita and
DeWalts among groups. After all
students have used both drills, have them remove the blocks and screws. They then are instructed to take a single
premade flat and attach six L-bracing legs.
They are to attach 2 screws to each side of the leg making an inverted V
at the corner. They need to choose
screws that stick out the least for Actor safety. After the flats are legged they should be turned over and tested
for stability. The flats and legs
should then be disassembled and put back in their storage position. No one is allowed to leave until all
materials are put away. The floor needs
to get swept after any work order.
