The purpose of this website it to promote my families catering business. On the site will be a detailed menu, service areas, costs, contact information, a brief history, photos, recipes, and hopefully a downloadable pdf format menu.
The target audience would be anyone looking to cater their event. Such as funerals, birthday parties, graduations, dinner parties, family reunions and so forth. Unless flash is going to be used on the homepage, I doubt the user would need any special software to view the site. A dial up connection would suffice. Any person that likes food would enjoy the site.
A web design structure seems more suited for my topic since it'll have more than 3 pages that need to be interlinked for convince. Say a person wanted to go to the contact info page but then wanted to see what the chef looked like, with a navigation bar at the top interlinking all the pages together it would be easy on the user.
The main links should be across the top center, since this is the way I see most websites set up. Any sub links to a web page can be listed on the left-hand side to prevent confusion.
I want to avoid clutter and make the menu very easy to read and navigate. If the menu looks easy to read and is appealing to the eye than there is more of a chance the user will read everything.
