The cons to this issue are that because we are lossing many animals and species each day, we loss a lot of genetic resources (www.umich.edu). In addition to lossing genetic resources, we are also endangering our ability to find cures in plants because over 25% of the world's pharmaceutical products are found in tropical plants (www.umich.edu). If we continue to tear down these plants, we could potentially be lowering our chances of finding cures for deadly diseases that are affecting the entire world. The only con to deforestation is that we are providing more and more space for the human race to live.
Our grovernment is having troubles coming up with solutions to this problem because we are not immeadiately feeling the affects of this natural disaster. But they are trying to pass laws to send over money to foreign countries to help them pay for shelters for the people who are tearing down the forests in order to find places for their people to love (www.umich.edu). Another way to help prevent deforestation is to decrease out dependency on the amount of products harvested from the rainforests (www.umich.edu).
Deforestation is affecting our environment because without trees, we are lowering the percentage of fresh oxygen that is being admitted into our atmosphere. There are many solutions to this problem such as not using so much paper, or printing double sided. We could also decrease the amount of paper products that we use daily by referring to plastic and stryo-foam.
My opinion of the whole situation is that it needs to be put to a stop. Granted, I believe that global warming is a much bigger issue than this, it still needs to not be forgotten about. Without trees, we loss our oxygen and our atmosphrere gets more cluttered. I will definately do my part in trying to prevent deforestation.
