CULTURE OF PONTUS
This research is about Coruk village and its people in OF,
TRABZON. The main source for language and culture is Coruk
village and its residents. Coruk's new name is Erenkoy, meaning
wisevillage. The reason for giving this name is that Pontic
dialect is still surviving and its customs and traditions also
exists.
Resources used are archived photographs, videotapes and
soundtapes.
Articles on dialect are written in Greek alphabet and translated
into Turkish phonetically.
There are five thousand words in dictionary section with the
usage of the each word. The complete dictionary consists of Coruk
spoken Pontic language.
This study is a result of the five years working. During this
time Pontic people from Trabzon, Of, Coruk, Athena, Selanik and
Istanbul were used as supporting sources.
