A Midnight Wedding Cont.
By the light of the moon, I could see shadows on the ground moving so I moved silently over to the next grave stone and sat. I looked from behind it and still couldn't see anything so again, I moved to another grave stone. By this time, I realized, I was moving closer to the entrance of the cemetery and I knew where I was. With that, I looked over to my left and seen the big mausoleum and headed for it. From there I could see the whole cemetery and anything that was happening, so I thought.

Now that I was where I wanted to be, I started looking for a way to climb on top of the mausoleum, once there, I laid down and looked over the cemetery only to see that there were figures coming from all directions. Not all bunched up, but staggered. One here, two here and maybe three over there. But they all were coming and headed in the same direction, towards the entrance of the cemetery.

I looked and seen a man dressed in dark cloths, like a priest, I was sure of it,he had the little white collar , but I didn't see a bible or any cars. It couldn't be a funeral this late at night and there wasn't any equipment to dig a grave either. Suddenly, there came four figures carrying a wooden box then another group of four carrying another box. They stopped right in front of the man and put the boxes beside one another. They seemed to be coffins but not any of the modern kind. No, these seemed to be home make, pine type of coffins with no markings.

What am I saying, I must be going out of my mind, but I know what I seen and I doubt my eyes would play such a trick.

As the figures gathered, I could tell that some were women and others men, all dressed in early 15th to 18th century clothing. Who are they and why are they here? I wish I knew the answer but then again, I should be careful what I wish for. I watched on and stayed quiet.

After they all had gathered in what would seem where they wished to be, I could hear the man in black speaking. He started out saying something like this.......
"Now that the moon is full, the year has come at last. We have gathered here with our friends and family to bring these two souls together forever in the graces of love."
Yes, I was shocked to hear this but I listened on and held my breath as he continued to speak.
"With all that have made the trip, let this ceremony begin."

With that, two men stepped forward and opened the coffins. Inside were people indeed. One man and a very pretty young looking lady. But both looked dead. Pale and sleek, their skin seemed to glow in the darkness of the night. Neither moved and the two men stepped back to their places. The man in black stepped forward and leaned over each coffin and made a few motions and then stepped back to his place. I listened on.
"My two children, the night calls you both, leave your old lives behind and rise. Rise and be reborn into your new lives together. Together with us. We celebrate your rebirth with these gifts."

The two people in the coffins sat up slowly. To the young girls side, two ladys stepped up and aided her out of the coffin and the same for the gentleman. I'm not sure what I was seeing or even if what I was thinking was true at that moment but all I knew was I felt safe where I was and doubt I could have moved due to fear. After the two had stood and joined hands, they looked about as much in love as a dog would with a cat with it's nails in his fur. Something just didn't seem right. Were these people dead or just some strange group of occult followers? I didn't know.

So, what your saying is that you seen a bunch of people at a wedding type gathering?

You heard me. I stayed and watched on but all I seen where a bunch of dead looking people having one hell of a party and lighting candles everywhere. A few of them had fiddles and they all danced around the cemetery. I hid myself every time they came closer to the mausoleum and once, they all were at this point or past me, I lowered my head to stay out of sight and when I looked up, they all were gone. Just that fast, one minute their all there having a blast and the next, their gone.

Did you see the faces of any of them close enough to identify?

Yes, I sure as hell did, two, the young girl from the coffin and the young man from the other coffin.

And?...Who were they?

Both..were...my friends from high school.

You sound as if your not sure.

Look lady, I'm sure of what I seen.....just not sure of what it was I seen..if you know what I mean.

I think I do. She smiled and watched the young girl.

As the young girl got up and left the reporter sitting there, she looked over her shoulder and only the flashing lights of the police cars let the expression of her face be seen. Sadness and confusion was there for a moment then she smiled and let the reporter know that both her friends had died in a car accident four years ago. She then turned and walked to the house leaving the scene behind her. As the sun started breaking over the hill side, the police finished their investigation and made their way out of the cemetery. Nothing found, no trace of a party and no trace of people. What happened that night will always remain a mystery to the rest of us but maybe not to her.
