Welcome to the future...

Ok, believe it or not...we are living in a futuristic age, not necessiarily
the future because this is the present, but 5 minutes from now is
basically the future. But why do we have all this cool stuff
such as palm pilots, skyscrapers with video screens attached (Times Square)
computers, airplanes, televisions, satelite radios and alot of other cool crap?
Why not 100 or 200 years ago??

Honestly I feel we are somewhat lucky because we basically discovered
electricity by accident, with Benjamin Franklin's lightning rod I
sometimes wonder what Earth would be like had we never found electricity...
Up until the early 1800s we basically were lving the same way for
centuries past, what would've happened if we discovered electricty
in say; 1509 or maybe 1367?? Would 2002 today have been 1760 back then??
I think so...Human innovation has always been around. Gallieo was
on the right track with his flying apparatuses but, there was no
way to power them. We've had ships for ages but I feel
had electricty never been discovered we'd still be sailing the
same way (by sail), and not flying at all...

I sometimes try to imagine what the earth will be like 50 years
from now, and all I can see is a future full of the same crap
only more advanced. I feel we've already invented everything
that could possibly be invented, we can only upgrade it. Basically
the only thing we DON'T have are flying cars, and that's only because
we as humans couldn't handle it...there would be crashes every
6 minutes if not every 6 seconds. Some people can't even
handle driving a car. So why would we risk ourselves with millions
of flying devices...I doubt we're that dumb.
