What's the deal with fashion designers??

Ok...I like fashion just as well as anyone else, and as most people;
I like name brands. What I don't like as well as appreciate is the
price that comes with name brands. Some designers will charge $90
for something that I can go somewhere else and pay $5 literally.
When I lived in Houston, I frequently shopped at Neiman Marcus and
I
saw that one designer named Eremenegildo Zegna charged ninety
dollars
for a shirt. What upset me was when I went to Ross, another store,
I saw practically the same shirt on sale for five dollars.

Now I also feel that a brand's price will appreciate over time and I'd
gladly pay say, $1,000 for a Chanel suit for my wife or maybe
$500 for a pair of Dior shoes for my daughter, but I'm sorry...I
don't know who some of these designers think they are charging
so much for so little. In this article, we will discuss Chanel,
Versace, Christian Dior and Ralph Lauren.

.Chanel.

C H A N E L

This prestigious label has been around for nearly a century and
thus wouldn't have too much trouble charging what they want; and
most people wouldn't care paying it, if they can. I saw an AD for
a 24kt. Gold Threadded Gown that cost around $250,000...I was like
"Wow." So I called Chanel and asked why it cost so much. The woman
explained that all the man-hours put in the making of the dress
contributed to about 10% of the price (25,000), but the name Chanel
itself held the rest of the price. Ok, maybe the name Chanel could
be worth $225,000...but come on...who does Chanel think she is??

Male model wondering why he's walking down the catwalk in a "gay-ass" suit....Versace.Donnatella Versace and Naomi Campbell after realizing their show just made an average $25,000,000...

Although Versace's tragic murder was unforseen, this greatly increased
the value of his clothing label, although now his sister Donatella is
now in charge. I went to the Versace' boutique at Houston's Galleria,
and I went up to a T-Shirt that I found interesting to purchase. When
I saw that the price tag was $750.00 I immediately walked out. There
ain't no way in hell I am about to spend nearly a grand on a damn T-Shirt.
Versace needs a reality check, seriously.

Dior Shades...Fashionable Dior "D" logo bag...

Another prestigious brand that's been around for at least 50 years also
feels their name is worth a grip...I've worn Dior shirts that have cost
me around $60 and I've left the store feeling ripped off. I found that
Dior gowns range from $1,500 to $2,500,000...seriously, why would a dress
cost more than a damn house??!

Ralph Lauren Store in New York City...

...R A L P H ... L A U R E N...

Lauren's clothing line is pretty impressive (The Polo Brand anyway)
but the Ralph Lauren line for women is kinda nuts...I mean a fashion
section in Oprah Magazine featured a shirt and houndstooth khaki's that ranged around
$950.00. Come on now Ralph, lets get real here. Sure, I can pay $50.00
for a polo shirt, but i'll be damned if I pay $1,500 for a suit or
something...I'd be better off trying to shoplift it from Saks Fifth Avenue.
at least if I get caught, the jail bond would only be $200.00, it seems like
a win-win situation to me...

In Conclusion...this makes me want to become a fashion designer because
rich americans are stupid falling for some designer's con-games... Omari Davis
