About our School
|
Heartland Family Karate holds classes three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday 6:30-8:30; Saturday 10:00-1:00) at Elkhorn Hills United Methodist Church, located just north of the Dodge and 204th street interchange. The first hour of training each day is open class for all students to train. The additional hours are training time for senior (16 or older) students. Heartland Family Karate is a family oriented school that focuses on traditional training. For more information on our style, please click on the "About Our Style" link. While training with Heartland Family Karate, students will build stamina, strength, speed, spirit, and will enjoy a healthier, less stressful lifestyle. Students are invited to train as often as they want, and there are NO long term contracts involved. When you sign up, you will receive a free gi (uniform) with your first month of training.

Heartland Family Karate is run
by Rick Royers, and has two additional certified instructors:
Valerie Struble amd Nick Merchen. They lead the weekly classes, assisted
by the other certified black belts of the dojo. In additional to
traditional weekly classes, Heartland Family Karate holds rank testing
approximately every three months, holds "street clothes" self
defense nights where students are encouraged to invite a friend, board
breaking classes, and in-school tournaments.
Additionally, Heartland Family Karate sends students to local and regional martial arts competitions. The school most consistently attends the National College of Martial Arts tournament in Springfield, MO. This year's tournament is the first weekend of June. Last July, we hosted the Shudokan Martial Arts Association's National Seminar and Conference, a three day event with seminars spanning all interests.
