Downtime, January 7th 2008

Downtime.  Is there ever such a thing?

January, anyone will tell you who ever worked retail or just lived in the consumer world...which most of us do...is one of the worst time of the year.  Next to February, that is.

I am currently applying for shows and then waiting.  I have been trying to work on restocking my line of art boxes & other woodburned items. I listed a few of my older pieces on Ebay.   And, this year, I promised myself, I will attempt to work on more 2D artwork.  I haven't been able to get to my painting like I really want.  Maybe I can work on the image for the halloween card I have been putting off for 3 years now.

There a a few skills I want to brush up on, computer related, so maybe I can find some time to wrap my brain around that as well.

Downtime.  A dangerous time of year as it brings out the artist blocks & depression that I am able to keep at bay when I am "on the road".

Hopefully, January & February will go smoothly....

My Start of Faire Season, August 16th 2006

Yup,  its that time of year again.  Lovely, lovely faire season.  It started for me in June with the small Arts & Crafts faire in PA, which turned out to be a nightmare.  Not the faire, the day.  It was stupid hot.  We started off the day at 6:15 AM with the hood of the trunk flying up & on & onto the windshield.  You would think that we could have just put the hood back down but NOOOO, it had to go up & over, onto the windshield wiper.  In order to get the hood back down the windshield wiper blade had to be yanked from its "socket".  Then the hood had to be lashed down with clothes line that luckily was in the truck (oh yes, did I mention that this was the truck that we 'borrowed? Hmm guess not...well on to the story...)

We arrived at the faire & as we were getting out, NB, my BF, ripped the back of his good vest (one of the only really nice things he has for clothes) right off of the vest.  It got stuck on the door of the driver's side.  Next.

We then set up the tent & discovered the tent frame was broken.  Out comes more clothesline.  Tada..tent fixed.

The vendors at the show were nice.  The few people who showed up at the faire were nice as well, but the day was too hot, so that wasn't a lot.  The faire closed early.

On the way home, the car overheated.
