A Message from President Bill Black

Well, the New Year is upon us and we start with a 75% change in club officers. Jim Martin and I are being recycled into the system and Sharon Ireton has graciously agreed (with a modicum of persuasion) to be secretary. Phil Kollen returns as treasurer.

The nominating committee had a difficult time finding volunteers to fill the positions. Last year I agreed to serve as vice president for one year since no one would take the job.  I set the same condition for this year, the reason being that I strongly believe that a camera club should reflect the amalgam personalities rather than that of a select few. We have many new members who have a significant interest in photography and have new ideas, questions and goals. The year 2004 should be the time for those who have not held a club office to step forward and share their time and experiences with the rest of the members. None of the jobs is difficult or time-consuming and universal participation should make us a better club. Please consider taking one of the offices or chairs when the time next comes.

In the meantime Jim and I will do our very best to excite your interest and challenge each and every one with special competition subjects and projects. Also, we will have programs that will challenge us with new (or perhaps forgotten) techniques so that we can sharpen our understanding of photography. By doing and sharing we all will learn and enjoy.

Finally, whatever the subject or whatever the technique, please participate. While we enjoy seeing the images of others, we all will benefit much more by shooting.
