| There's more to me than just the Olympics. Following are a some of the other things that interest me. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Peanuts I'm really more into the t.v. specials than the comic strip. I am quite fond of the holiday specials as they bring me back to my childhood. And as a tradition I watch every holiday episode that I have on video; like the Great Pumpkin, Happy Thanksgiving Charlie Brown, It's the Easter Begal Charlie Brown, etc. The humor is so "adult", that it just makes me laugh. And some of the quotes are just so funny. "All I want is what's coming to me, all I want is my fair share." "Is that you Patty? NO!!" Thanks to Charles Schultz for creating these memorable and hysterical characters. |

| Commercial Aviation My dad was a reliability engineer for Rocketdyne in Canoga Park from like 1959 until his retirement in 1984. His being in the aerospace industry had an influence on me being interested in aircraft, particularly commercial aviation. In fact up until and through my freshman year of college that's what I wanted to do, be an airline pilot. Then I soon realized flying cost ALOT of money and there was waaaay too much responsibility for me to be comfortable, so I gave up my notion of being a pilot and now just enjoy the planes. I love to fly, love airports, love to sit at the end of the runways at LAX and watch the huge planes land just feet above your head, it's quite a rush! Of course I have a few favorite airlines, and my all time fav is/was PSA. It was cheap, they had frequent flights to the places I wanted to go (namely PHX to visit my cousin) and they were fun. Unfortunately the evil USAir took them over to expand their presence on the west coast, and eventually dropped most west coast markets (bastards). America West is another favorite. Lately they've been sorta not as reliable as they used to be and I am finding myself flying United more and more (also UAL has a new hub at LAX so there are more non-stops out of there), but there will always be a special place in my heart for good ole HP. Plus my best friend Rob used to work for them and my close friend Shelley still works for them, so there's a little favoritism still there. Here are a few of my favorite airline links. |

| Theme Parks For as long as I can remember I have been interested in theme parks. Maybe it's because Busch Gardens in Van Nuys was only a mere 4 blocks from my house growing up (until it was demolished in 1979 so that AB could make more beer). I used to build parks in my backyard for the neighbor kids all the time, using wagons and wheel barrows as roller coasters, turning the tire swing into a thrill ride, and making a treehouse into a view tower. Disneyland (and the other Disney parks) are my favorite because of all the planning and detail that goes into everything. In my early teens my buddy Rob and I had season passes for Magic Mountain In Valencia, and the summer of '81 we went ALL the time. Then from about 1989 until 1996, I and quite a few friends had season passes to Disneyland, and would go 3, 4, sometimes more times a month. Most were Sundays in the afternoon until closing, just to have dinner, ride a few things, enjoy the park. Soon tho, the magic sorta dwindled and now I make it there once a year usually. It seems to mean more to go once a year now as opposed to 3 times a month. I swear, the older you get... It was a dream of mine, sorta still is, to work for Walt Disney Imagineering as a creative consultant on attractions. I tried many times to get in but it's really a "who you know" sorta situation. Oh well, it's always good to have dreams right :-) |
