Photoshop Magic - Expert Edition by Brendon Perkins

As with all Adobe Photoshop books this one is excellent. As the title suggests this version is about photo manipulation. The book goes through step by step recipe style showing you how to manipulate black and white photo's and add colour or make Vignettes out of you photo's. There is a chapter on photo restoration, simulating the weather, water or stained glass effects.

I found this book easy to work through and have done
several of the examples.

Photoshop Magic - Textures by Sherry London

A wonderful book if you are after formulas for producing interesting and varied backgrounds or interesting font fillers.

Particularly useful is the sections at the beginning of the books which describe all the different toolbox features. This is useful if like me you received Photoshop bundled with another product and received no manual. Photoshopis a wonderful product but not exactly user friendly if you don't have a manual to look through for help.

Throughout the book any tasks that need to be done are highlighted in a different colour so that you can refer to the front
of the book for details.

Effects such as confetti, leather, pearls, rice paper, snake skin and wood are just a few to be covered.

Photoshop 4 - Type Magic 1 by David Lai & Greg Simsic

For those looking to make truly amazing font styles this is the book for you. There is also a follow up book to this Type Magic 2 which is even better.

Bevelled, Chrome, Earthquake, Flaming, Glowing, Neon, Pillow, Rubber Stamped are just a few styles covered.

Again this is a recipe style book where you just follow the prompts bit by bit. Be aware that sometimes you will have to try the effect several times until you are happy with it either because you have made a slight mistake or just not what you are looking for.
