24/09/07 First points in the bag Olympiakos -Doxa 2-1
Last Saturday Olympiakos was a team very different from the team that lost 3-1 against AEL. Olympiakos started attacking from the start of the match forcing Doxa to defend. The attacking play paid off on the 12th minute when Gonzalez earned a penalty. Machado had no problem scoring his first goal of the season. Doxa recovered and lost two good chances to equalise with Stylianou looking confident under the post. With the start of the 2nd half Olympiakos made it 2-0. Gonzalez won a foul outside the box and he took it himself to sent the ball in the back of the net. Olympiakos should have scored more goals but Gonzalez and Pittas were guilty of missing some great chances. Doxa scored a goal on the 70th minute but Olympiakos held until the end to take his first 3 points of the season. The only black spot was the sending off of Adinolfi. Olympiakos played with Stylianou, N. Nikolaou, N. Nikolaou, Papaioannou, Rodriguez, Djenic, Pittas, Gonzalez, Machado, Panigutti (72 Panagiotou), Polking (90 Deugoui).
