OLYMPIAKOS NICOSIA FC |
23/1/2007 Two new defensive players linked with Olympiakos. Two defenders and former Pontevedra players Michael Yobo and Edgardo Adinolfi have come out in the press as possible additions to the Olympiakos team. Yobo is a 27 year old Nigerian whose brother Joseph is currently playing for Everton. Michael's career though has not been as successful. He was part of the French Auxerre team for years but never got to play in the first team. From 2003-2005 he played for Dutch team Zwolle and Spanish club Pontevedra which both got relegated at the end of the seasons. If Yobo's abilities are questionable, this is not the same for 32 year old Uraguayan Adinolfi who is also a former team-mate of Sladjan Spasic. Adinolfi played for River Plate (Uraguay) 1992-1995, Macabi Haifa (Israel) 1995-1996, Pearol (Uraguay) 1996-1999, Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata (Argentina) 1999-2000, Defensor Sporting (Uraguay) 2001, PAOK (Greece) Clausura (Uraguay) 2001, Fnix (Uraguay) 2002, Newell's Old Boys de Rosario (Argentina) 2003-2006 and for the past few months in Tiro Rosario. Several Spanish sites including Malaga were reported to be interested in signing him in 2004 and he ended in Pontevedra where he played 11 games before going back to Newell's. He had a serious injury throughout the 2005-2006 season and then moved to Tiro Rosario where he played in five games and was released in November. He has also an international experience with 18 calls and 1 goal for Uraguay and he was called by his national coach in 2004. |
