10/10/08 Papavasiliou replaces Barios
Barios resigned from the post of Olympiakos' manager after a series of bad results. Olympiakos went from bad to worse as the draw with Onisilos was followed by a 3-0 cup-defeat in Nicosia by AEL and a 1-0 2nd-division defeat by PAEK also in Nicosia. PAEK was reduced to 10 men following a red card but Olympiakos - like in the match against Onisilos - could not take advantage. A second defeat (3-2) by AEL in the cup confirmed the exit of Olympiakos from the competition. Barios resigned with his resignation accepted by the Olympiakos president. Papavasiliou was appointed as the new manager of Olympiakos and hopefully he will help to improve the team's spirit.
