3/11/2007 Fatigue takes its toll Omonia - Olympiakos 4-2
The Olympiakos players looked like a shadow of their usual selves and suffered a second defeat and cup-exit from Omonia on Wednesday. Coming with a narrow defeat (1-0) from the first leg, Olympiakos needed to be cautious in defense but Omonia managed to score an early goal that left Olympiakos chasing a victory with two-goal difference. Our team was able to pull one back with Machado in the 33rd minute but with Olymiakos pushing forward for a second goal Omonia found the spaces to score again early in the 2nd half. Disappointment and the fatigue due to 5 difficult games in 2 weeks took their toll and Omonia scored a third goal. Even so, Olympiakos did not give up and managed to reduce the deficit with De Porras in the 78th minute but while our team was looking for the equalizer, Omonia scored a forth goal a few minutes before the final whistle. Olympiakos played with: Stylianou, N. Nikolaou, N. Nikolaou, Rodriguez, Papaionannou, Machado, Panigutti, Gonzalez (67 Polkin), Deugoui, Grzybowski (54 De Porras) and Djenic (54 Injai).
