Hoof Notes:

  12 August 2005
April has been a bit off lately.  Her Vet was called to unblock her tear duct (a usual occurance) and he said April has had a bit of a respiratory infection.  She all better now.

  30 June 2005
Haven't been doing much riding with April at all, she is just not interested anymore.  She gets to a certain point when we are riding then says "I've had enough, I'm going home to eat!"

  9 March 2005
Spending time with April in her paddock on our 14th anniversary I nearly got bitten on the backside by a Red Belly Black Snake!!!

  24 January 2005
April is having a couple of months rest due to the hot weather over summer.

22 August 2004
April's riding time is back to normal, though we usually only walk.  On occassion she can manage a bit of a trot, canter and even a slow gallop!
(Me thinks she's been putting on an act for some time now - there's not much wrong with her, she's just being a bit stubborn.  :-)

7 June 2004
RIP Tyson
Thank you for all those
beautiful canters!
I'll miss you mate.

21 February 2004
April's riding time has been increased to 40 minutes.
Tyson is back, so now I can go for a nice fun ride!

RIP Cha Cha

  12 January 2004
April's riding time has been increased to 30 minutes.  She's doing very well.

  11 December 2003
YAY!  April can be ridden (walked) for about 20 minutes each weekend, though she wasn't impressed by being saddled up on the weekend. :-)

1 December 2003
I am to ride April very soon (next weekend) to assess whether she can be lightly ridden on a regular basis.  Fingers crossed all goes well!

  1 September 2003
April has made a fantastic recovery and is a happy horse running free again.

  23 July 2003
Tragedy befell April yet again (okay, it was all my fault).  She was rushed to the local vet clinic. After 6 days she picked up and was on the road to a good recovery.

  15 May - 20 June 2003
Holiday in England, Scotland and Wales.  One highlight was riding near Loch Ness and Castle Urquhart in Scotland. Another was going to a rugby match in Cardiff!

9 May 2003
Sporting Gymkhana last weekend.  April went really well - we actually came second in a couple of heats and semi finals.  Got a bit carried away in the final and was disqualified for knocking a pole over in a bending event (we were coming 3rd)  8-(  April also managed to compete for most of the day - but towards the end she had had enough (and so did I!).

Came first in the "Rescue Race".  Whoo Hoo!  (Me being doubled on another horse)

19 April 2003
Someone was feeling rather good with themselves and got into a flat stick gallop before I could do anything about it!!  April pulled up really well at the end - no swelling or heat in her knee.

  23 October 2001
Did she do it?  Yes she did!!
Pictures of the gymkhana will be added soon.

1 October 2001
April may get the chance to compete, her well being is first and foremost, in an on property sporting gymkhana to be held October 20.  I may withdraw her from competition after the first event!! (It's always down hill from there :-).  A hacking gymkhana will be held the following day - that should be a bit better!!  Can't wait.
(Get well soon Cha Cha [the dog!]).
  1 August 2001
Happy Birthday April!!!
April is 20 years old.
  Update 25 June 2001
When riding yesterday I asked April to canter and she broke into a bit of a gallop!!!
  Update 12 May 2001
Today April and I went for our first trail ride since early
February 2000!  We walked for just over half an hour and
she went really well.
