Class Leaders and High Producers
Production is one of the top priorites on the Olson Dairy farm, there are many cows that produce well over the breed average we will highlight a few of our top producing cows on our farm here.  Several of this cows are on the all time national production list as well.

The Following Cows have Made the Brown Swiss Cattle Breeders's Association Honor Roll
IE Thane Jane V88 *Cert - J.P. EVES winner 2000, 1st Brown Swiss to ever break 50,000lbs of milk. Jane was a Forest Lawn Jason out of ID Thane Jo V86.

We unfortunately lost Jane after she calved in at 5-11.  Her legacy is still evident though as she has left some exceptional heifers behind. 

CIE Thane Denmark Jesse V86 - 122 on the CPI list as of August 2003.  Jesse is the daughter of Jane out of Denmark.  She seems to follow in her dams footstep so far.

as of August 2003. She is an Even out of an Ensign. Born 10/12/96. Grand Champion Winona County Open Show (canton 1 show) 2000.  Grand Champion Olmsted County fair 2000.  4th place Sr. 3yr Old MN State Fair 2000.

- Mitzy is currently being flushed to Denver

IE Thane Jo Mocha 2E90  *Cert
- Mocha was born 12-94.  She was Kelseys 4-H animal.  Mocha is a Pretus.  She was the 1st place Dry Cow at the MN state fair and the MN state Show in 2000.  We have a october Jolt heifer out of mocha.

 

Horizon Seatle Patricia V85- A seatle out of the Pricilla family. She calved in June with a Bull
Patty has at 277 days of milk 27,004 of milk    3.9% fat 1062 lbs of fat       3.3% P with 743 lbs of protein

The Following is a list of some of our top cows that completed their 305 records in the calendar year of 2003 according to DHIA.
This list is from the DHIA Olmsted County Annual Report
There are about 90 herds that test using the olmsted county's DHIA.

~Olson dairy was the top high dollar mixed or colored breed herd with a dollar value of $3725 (county avg for all herds was $2707)
Rolling Herd Average was   25,793 with 950 of fat and 815 of protein on 258 cows

~We had the Top Brown Swiss Cow with Aerial Prophet Jolene   G81. who had a dollar value of $4207

~ We had the Top X Breed Cow  #381 with a dollar value of $4,456
