Punk Covers
Now first I'll explain what a 'punk cover' is for those of you who are less knowlegeable on the subject. To make a punk cover you first take a sucky pop song like, for example, Kids In America by Kim Wylde and you play it faster on guitars instead of with synthesisers. An example of this is The Muffs version of Kids In America. Now punk covers have been around, pretty much, since punk was started. Look at The Ramones and Sid Vicious. Now the punk cover is as popular as ever, Goldfinger's version of 99 Red Balloons or Reel Big Fish's cover of Take On Me, but some people still don't get the point. Punk covers are here for a reason. I will try to justify punk covers. Punk covers provide humor, especially at live gigs. Imagine a two hour set of stomping punk rock. How do you break it up. Easy, do a cover of Shout. Or what about a finalle. You can't decide what your best song is, so do someone else's, why not Walk Like An Egyptian. Also punk covers prove that any song, no matter how bad the origianal version was, can be made to sound good. This is sort of proof that there is still hope. That's a good thing, isn't it. I will now list some punk covers that everybody should listen too.

Goldfinger - 99 Red Balloons
Sid Vicious - My Way
Reel Big Fish - Take On Me
The Muffs - Kids In America
Less Than Jake - We Go Together
The Vandals - Summer Lovin'
Save Ferris - Come On Eileen
