The Earlier Stuff Is Better
I have noticed that when talking about anything, whether it be your favorite band or type of wine, the conclusion is always 'the earlier stuff is better. I want to know why. Is it because people like the origianal stuff because they know it better or is it because people get sloppy the further in to their music or furniture making career they get. I aim to find out. For example if I ask the question 'what's Green Day's best album' most people say Dookie. Dookie was thier first major release and their third album. Since then they've released three more studio albums, some live albums, a greatest hits package and a b-sides collection. People still prefer Dookie. What about cars. Speak to anybody who's lived through at least two big wars and they'll say 'They don't make 'em like they used to'. Also Red Dwarf. Everybody would say 'the first one' if asked which series is better. I challange everybody to find something that has improved with time. Let's see what you come up with.

Kathryn says:
"Ok, how about technology? I've also watched The Lord of the Rings and I liked it - you could say I'm obsessed with the whole Middle-Earth theme - but those amazing special effects would not be possible 50 years ago; just look at stuff like Thunderbirds with the scarily fake puppets!"

True, but the fakeness had its own charm. Look at Trap Door. The play-dough people do look silly, but they have more character than a computer generated cartoons.
