The David Stamper Memorial Award
This year an award has been established to
honour the memory of David Stamper who attended Turnberry Central Public
School from 1994 to 1998.
The award takes the form of a plaque that
will be presented for the first time in June 2001 and displayed in a prominent
location at school.
It is awarded to a grade 4, 5 or 6 student
who demonstrates qualities and interests that were characteristic of David.
The Grade 4, 5 and 6 teachers will make the
selection based on observations of daily school life.
Other school staff may also have some input.
The following qualities and interests will
be considerations for eligibility:
- someone who always strives to be the best
he/she can be
- displays curiosity and a desire to learn
- treats others respectfully and in a caring
fashion
- shows an awareness of nature and the world
around us
- is appreciative of efforts on their behalf
- demonstrates a strong sense of what is right
- maintains a sense of humour
- has perhaps overcome some personal difficulties
