I.                   Course Description:

 

Introduction to the variety and utility of mathematics.  This class enables students to use basic mathematics to solve common business problems.  Instruction covers the 10-key method on the office calculator.  Class meets 4 hours per week

 

II.                Prerequisites:  None

 

III.             Course Objectives:

 

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to

 

solve mathematical problems by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers

add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions

convert fractions to decimal and decimals to fractions

add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals

reconcile a bank statement

solve equations and word problems for the unknown

list and define the key elements of the portion formula

      solve for one unknown of the portion formula when the other two key elements are given.
