Ø      The basic idea behind writing bibliographical references is not only efficiency, but completeness.  Note what is capitalized, where the periods are, and what is underlined!!!!

Ø      AS A RULE OF THUMB, THE FOLLOWING IS USUIAL PRACTICE IN REPORT WRITING:

MARGINS:  At least 1 ½  inches on the left, minimum 1 inch on other edges.

PAGINATION:  In the upper right hand corner of each page of the text.

REFERENCES:  Found in a list at the end of the text…only references cited in

the text are in this list.

COMPUTER USE: Be sure your printer copies the image so it can be easily read.  Eliminate the “justify” option for course papers.  Separate pages and staple papers together for submission.

Ø     Quotations, once thought to be most acceptable, should now be used, sparingly, in formal writing.  Only when an impact is needed, or in changing the quote, you would change the intended idea, should a quote be used.  When writing, it is referenced as such:

“There is a need for health care organizations to discover…the most efficient manner” (American Nurses’ Association, 1984, p. 8).

                                      OR

As stated by the American Nurses’ Association (1984), “there is a need for health care…efficient manner” (p. 8).

Ø     In any case, for a quote, there MUST BE A PAGE NUMBER!
