I was born in 1971 in Austia/Europe. At age 18 I traveled the first
time to North America. I traveled with my parents to Canada and the USA. I
saw a couple of classic Vettes and I really fell in love with the "curves"
of the C3 Vette. In Austria there are very few classic Vettes. At age 19 I
bought my first Vette (with the financial help of my parents). I bought the
Vette in Texas. It was a 350 HP 350 CI 1969 Convertible. The car had a beautiful
color called "champagne". This car was just the beginning of my Corvette
addiction!!! Later I sold the 69 and bought a 86 Coupe. I didn't keep either
of the Vettes because maintaining those cars in Europe is pretty expansive.
(gas price, taxes, insurance...)
Professionally I actually had nothing to do with cars. I studied at a High
School for electrical engineering and later studied and graduated in MIS.
After serving in the Austrian Army for 10 months (required in Austria),
I started to work in my profession as a Programmer. After working for 5
years in that field in my country I started to look for employment in the
USA. I always dreamt of living in the US - especially in Florida. As a Information
Technology Professional it didn't take me long to find a employer who would
sponsor my work Visa.... Since 1997 I am living in Florida (first in the
Tampa Bay area and now in Miami Beach). In 1998 I bought another Corvette.
It was again a 69 Convertible, which is my favorite Corvette year. I invested
a lot of money in my 69 because I was thinking in keeping it. However - I
changed my mind and purchased a 1995 Convertible in 2000. After driving my
1995 for more than 1 year (as a daily driver), I started to miss the sound
and the classic lines of a C3. I sold my 1995 and bought a very rough 1968
Corvette Convertible project car and later a 1980 Duntov Turbo Convertible.
