"Lost"
by Lianne Olive Hennig
I’ve been fighting and I’ve won.
Now I see what I have done
All for honour and society -
I long for impropriety.
The Psychologist in me and
The Actor, that you see, have
Banded an Academy award.
If you knew behind the Clown
Was an ever present frown
You would realise that I deserve applaud.
I have cunningly devised
A situation I’m surprised
You ever lacked intelligence to see.
Won’t you see that it’s a sham?
See the girl I really am and
Take the love I hold inside of me.
I need you, do not leave me!
It was all a ruse, believe me,
To make you think I wasn’t for the taking…
But, you don’t know me well and
Couldn’t see behind the shell, and
I can’t tell you I was only faking…
