I also brought my good friend
Bobby Bridger up to Zoola. South of Missoula is the Bridger mountain
range. Bobby Bridger
is kin to Jim Bridger, the famous Mountain Man. Bobby is one incredible
performer and though he's
a performer for the Buffalo Bill Historical Society in Cody, Wyoming, he
had never performed in Montana.
I brought Bobby up to open for Emmylou Harris. I had the offer
to
do a date with Emmylou and
I could not at first find a place to book her. Though some friends
I was
introduced to the idea of
doing the show in the gym at Sentinel High school. It had never been
done,
but the principle at that
time loved the idea, and there I was bringing in one of the darlings
of country
music into a sell out
show. Folks to this day talk about the concert. While Bobby
was in town I
had him do a benefit for
the Fort Missoula Museum.

Greetings Benford Standley and Glacier Productions:As a matter of fact before I got the call from Emmylou's folks asking if I wanted to do a date with here causeWe just wanted to thank you for bringing Emmylou Harris to Missoula, Montana. Regardless of
the review The Missoulian carried, we thought the concert was carried off in a very professional
manner. Glaicier productions did an excellent job of promoting a national act in a facility
unknown for contemporary music. Sound, lights, and security were all very professional. We appreciate being part of the event and look forward to continued production successes
by you and your staff. Keep it up.Chris Roberts

MEADOWLARK VENTURES
Emmylou sold out the High
School gym. We had to turn people away. The show was
a great success.
Emmylou fell in love with
Montana and in fact was on the road doing a live album and many of the
cuts
from the Missoula show were
used in some of her work. As mentioned in the letter from Chris Roberts
in
the letter above the Missoulian
wrote a bad review of the show. So what's new? The Missoulian
does
not know their head from
the hole in their ass. They even ignored the Michael Murphy Show
that
I produced and most every
show they would either ignore or do a bad review. Hey, so what's
new?

I stayed in Missoula and did not get to see my ole buddy Jerry Jeff.
I stayed in Missoula to make sure
that the Emmylou Harris show went okay, and had my partners go down
to Bozeman, Montana and
take care of that show. Love Jerry Jeff and the ole Lost Gonzos,
it would have really been fun to have
put them on the same show...just was not sure I could pull it off in
ole Zoola. Sheeeeeee...just what
I was doing bringing Emmylou to a High School Gym that was not known
as a venue had me a little
under the gun, plus we had to promote the shows in both cities.
Proud to say that we made money
in both venues. People were paid and all went well with the shows.
I will be honest and say that I
was shorted by the partners that I had and they did not, as per usual
with a few deals I was getting
into in ole Zoola. Meanwhile back at the ranch...
Also, did several shows with my ole buddy and songwriter for Willie
Nelson, Rosanne Cash, and
the God Father of my Missoula born daughter Desiree...the lost Gonzo
himself...GARY P. NUNN
and his Sons of the Bunk House Band. Gary is best known for his
penned song that Jerry Jeff
Walker took to the bank first, then it became the soundtrack for the
world famous Austin City
Limits Music Television show that along with Soul Train and American
Band Stand is one of the
longest running music shows in the history of TV. Some old buddies
put the show together back
when we were all being Cosmic Cowboys in Austin...where "I wanna go
home with the Armadillo
country music from Amarillo to Abiline...friendlest people and the
prettiest women you have ever
seen..." Gary had a great time on his several trips to Missoula.
Hung with the local pickers, and
was a co-producer on the MONTANA MELODY Album, as well as player and
singer.
