COLLEGE BUDDIES
Who is a College Buddy?
A College Buddy is a full-time, registered undergraduate in good standing with the university/ college who is paired in a one-to-one friendship with a person with intellectual disabilities (a Buddy) for one academic school year.

College Buddy Requirements:
All students who are interested in becoming a College Buddy should attend the chapters Organizational Meeting.
All potential candidates must complete a Membership Application and Matching Survey.
All potential candidates must be interviewed by the CBD to become a College Buddy.

Once matched with your Buddy, you commit to:
Make contact with your Buddy on a weekly basis.  Contact can include anything from a telephone call to a letter/e-mail or to your one-to-one time together.
Two to three one-to-one outings per month.
Be a contributing member of your chapter by attending the chapter meetings and group outings.

You are committing only to become your Buddys friend and you are not responsible for becoming a guardian/caseworker.  The essence of Best Buddies is to foster natural social friendships between two people.  Your role is simply to be a friend to someone whose acquaintance you might not have otherwise had the opportunity to make.  Just by being yourself, you will be a positive role model for your Buddy.
Think you might not have time to be as committed as you would like? No problem!

You can still be an
associate member to the program. An associate member is a college student that is not matched in a one-to-one friendship, but who attends all chapter meetings and group outings.
