There are many variations. The usual situation occurs after partner

has overcalled and there is a neg. double.

1C - 1H - Dble. ?

One can use 2H to show a raise without honors in the suit and redouble

to show honors. Its purpose is to let partner know when he can/can't

lead the suit safely. It can be used to have other meanings and cover

many other situations as well.
