Ripstra

After the opponents open 1 N/T, a bid of 2 Clubs or 2 Diamonds asks partner to bid his best major. The bidder has chosen his best minor for the bid so it is not mandatory for the partner to respond with a horrible hand. He could pass.

As in Landy, the bidder should have at least 4 of each major.

A Double of 1 N/T is for penalty when this convention is used.

Defense to 1NT opening

2C = major suit takeout, longer clubs than diamonds

2D = major suit takeout, longer diamonds than clubs

2H/2S = natural

Double = penalty

With equal minor suit lengths, bid 2C.
