Struffoli

 

 

2 cups of flour

6 eggs

1 pinch baking powder

1/8 teaspoon salt

Oil

Honey

 

 

Mix dry ingredients

Break eggs into the dry ingredients and mix together with fork

Knead until elastic

Cut dough in half

Work with half the dough and refrigerate the other half

Roll dough into long strips

Cut into pieces about ¼ in. wide

Drop pieces of dough into hot oil and deep fry until golden brown

Drain on paper towels

The struffoli should be shaped like balls

 

Pour about a cup of honey in a saucepan and heat

Place the struffoli in the honey to coat

Repeat as needed

Then place struffoli on a plate and layer them into a mound shape

 

*This recipe has been handed down from one generation to another. It is enjoyed during the Christmas holidays in traditional Italian families.
