Kichel Sugar Bowties
Preheat oven 350 degrees
1 tbsp. dried yeast
2 eggs
2 egg yolks
½ cup vegetable oil
3 cups flour
¼ tsp salt
¼ cup warm water
3 l/2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 cup warm orange juice
Topping:
1 cup sugar
3 tbsp. cinnamon
Melted butter
Mix water, orange juice and yeast in a small
bowl.
Let mixture stand for a few minutes till yeast
dissolves.
Mix eggs, yolks, sugar, salt, oil and flour to make a
soft dough.
Knead dough on a flowered work area for a few seconds.
Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on work area and roll out
the dough to a l/4 inch thickness.
Cut dough into 3-½ inch x l inch strips using a sharp
knife.
Twist the strips in the middle and press to seal.
Place bowties on parchment lined or greased cookie
sheet about one inch apart.
Brush melted butter on top of bowties and sprinkle
cinnamon and sugar.
Bake until golden brown, approximately 30 minutes.
Allow to cool before serving.
